Censored Classics: Join the Appleton Public Library and the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center for a mid-day discussion focusing on the story “Of Mice and Men.” Find out why one of John Steinbeck’s most famous novels fell victim to censorship as it has often been banned by school boards and libraries nationwide since it was published in 1937. The noon discussion will be held on Friday, October 2 at the Appleton Downtown Public Library in collaboration with the Fox Cities P.A.C.’s evening presentation of Barter Theatre’s Of Mice and Men on Tuesday, October 6 at 7:30 p.m.

Preshow Discussion: Join us for a free preshow discussion prior to Barter Theatre’s Of Mice and Men on Tuesday, October 6 in the Fox Cities P.A.C.’s Kimberly-Clark Theater. Karen Aspenson from National Alliance on Mental Illness – Fox Valley (NAMI) will provide insight into one of John Steinbeck’s most memorable characters, Lennie, as she explores the differences between developmental and mental disabilities.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with the discussion beginning at 6:45 p.m. This event is FREE and available to Barter Theatre’s Of Mice and Men ticket holders with community support from Appleton Papers Inc.
